National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

What is this?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for support and services for Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability. Twofold are here to support Aboriginal people with a disability in the Bega Valley Shire to register as NDIS participants.

What are the details?

We are here to assist you in registering and accessing the NDIS Scheme in the easiest way possible. There is evidence that Aboriginal people are under-represented in the NDIS system and that there are barriers to participation. There is a lack of understanding of the cultural context of disabilities in the Aboriginal community by system providers. Twofold are here to help with the complexities of the registration process for Aboriginal people and their families.

Am I eligible?

You are eligible if...

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identified

  • Are aged under 65 when the access request is made

  • Are an Australian resident

  • Satisfy either the permanent and significant disability or early intervention requirements

How do I apply?

Please refer to the NDIS website at https://www.ndis.gov.au/understanding/how-ndis-works. Twofold staff will gladly guide potential participants through the process and available services that the NDIS Scheme can provide.
